I have found that for most of the time, I have resorted to working in sketchbooks.
From 2000 until 2019, I kept sketchbooks and used them for the obvious purpose of recording scenes and a mulitude of objects in nature.
I found that they could be more than just a record of experiences, but could be used as a development into virtual final artworks.
Having suffered ill-health from 1999, I found it impossible to actually exhibit my work and would do anything to avoid having to explain my concepts.
In the 'sketchbook' I found solace.
I was able to say the things which I would have, otherwise, found hard to say.
Much of the contents was captioned with explanations of the work.
As things developed I found myself more confident about my role as a 'visual diarist'.
